Camelot made it chaotic, but that doesn't make it bad.  Luna can be and IS gentle in DD - otherwise, what was the whole point behind the Umbra Gear?  The thing is, too much of /anything/ can be harmful.  Too much fire?  Have fun surviving lava.  Too much earth?  Hope you like falling into giant cracks in the ground.  Too much water?  I hear the tsunamis are great this time of year.  Air?  Even if you can fly, the tornado will rip you up.  Darkness?  Monsters took a level in badass - go kill them.  Light?  The light repels you and every other living thing.  Better get protection.

Ah yes.I am sorry that I was secretive but now I think that it all is like this.
Story takes place beforealchemy was sealed.Ancient civilisations etc.
There is big war of alchemy. One big emperor warrior of sol is going to take control upon full weyard but other clans are against it other are for it.
Mars clan are ally of sol clan and they are fighting against other clans are fighting in their fortresses against sol and mars clans.
War is going so far that it is unbearable. Our hero Trevor is wandering towards to anemos and he gets companions.
Girl from nearby village.Mercury adept.
Calm men from Jupiter fortress.
Mars warrior after undersanding some things mars adept.
In anemos they ask what to do.
To solve this question they head to Lemuria and in there are big discusion. they decease to seal alchemy...
Other things we think out later.
Okay, so if I understand it correctly: The story sets centuries ago, while Alchemy wasn't sealed yet. There are clans of 6 factions ( Venus Mercury Mars Jupiter Sol Luna)
And those factions (or people from it) eventually work together to seal Alchemy?

Certainly not a bad story for a fangame.
We might want to put all the story we got until this point in a document.

Quote from: Thunder-Squall
In Dark Dawn, we see that Dark energy is chaotic, but maybe once upon a time it was peaceful and gentle, before the spirits became enraged -- I'd like to see that gentle side of Luna very much.
Are we all agreed on how the elements work in the story? I've been very inactive and haven't got the finest clue if this was already decided.
Quote from: Thunder-Squall
I'd like the culture and symbolism to represent whatever the pagan stuff was prior to being incorporated by the empire.  So governance will likely be divided into light/ dark cycles, or perhaps there'll be a consistent matriarchy with passing sons (a friend described something like this a long time ago, but I confess I wasn't paying attention)
Sounds interesting.
Quote from: Thunder-Squall
The 'Ancient One' must feature heavily, but I know very little about him.
You mean the dangerous one? Happy
Here's a bit I know:
Spoiler for Hiden:
The wise one is a floating rock creature with only one eye. He is probably not almighty but is certainly not mortal.
He acts as the guardian of men, but almost never shows himself in public. He is sort of like god in the bible, he barely shows himself and only to chosen people (no offense). And almost never do things himself but watches the world.

This is a piece of lyrics from a song. I think we can see the Wise one this way.
"I am every stone on earth,
everything is recorded in me
But I'm not to interfere
Just continue to act as if I'm not here
I don't care for love or hate
And I know there is no such thing as fate
No greater power will punish your mistakes
Your acts are out of your own free will"

I think he is either an old race ( see this fanfic https://www.fanfiction.net/s/4683996/1/The-Incarnadi and this one https://www.fanfiction.net/s/4531890/1/Through-a-Rocky-Eye) or the philosopher's stone himself.

We also know he has powerful psynergy, slamming Alex multiple time on the ground and temporarily stopping an eruption.
Quote from: Thunder-Squall
I'd also like to have a better explanation of djin and adepts, and what sets them apart.  It might be cool for Jupiter Adepts to betray Luna, and thus forever bare a curse from her (ie Garoh)
That could be something, but keep in mind that in TLA is explained that people in Garoh probably mutated because of the Jupiter winds, but if you can prove otherwise it would be nice.

Quote from: Rolina
The light is oppressive and bears down on you, which is why you seek the shade on hot days.  The light prefers rigid, unchanging structure, while the darkness encourages freedom and creativity.
Well do we all agree on that? Take it to the vote perhaps, because we need one idea about Light/Sol and Luna/Dark.

I certainly agree on that. However I just discovered those things lately. Is it because of age or is it just that there are certain things (like the comic code)
that give us the opposite idea? Nevermind me anyway, this is not the place to discuss that.

Agillity/Speed in most RPG games is better then Attack/Force/power.
Spoiler for Hiden:
That is only when Defence is a linear division fuction. Example: When you strike with two daggers  (one does 120 damage the other 100) and the def makes every damage divide by 50 it does not differ from when you strike with one big sword (dealing 220 damage). When the defence is linear substraction, you want the highest damage output as possible, to maintain a low percentage of damage loss to defence.

Well this seem to be more interesting but in my story mars and sol are fighting to take all wejard but other clans are against it.
So this are foes which are fighting.
Our heroes are sealing lighthouses but for warriors of light are preventing this.
If all lighthouses are sealed then sol element is disappearing.

On issues of lore, this is a link to a youtube video that includes the reveal of Alex towards the end of Dark Dawn.  It provides valuable clues, and could be a useful refresher.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ugZdyvOsv-A

I think there may be contradictions though (quoted from Alex).

"Mathew, you should know that the Tuaparang are scions of the Umbra Clan, also called Dark Adepts."

But then it seems that Dark Adepts and people of the Umbra Clan are not exactly the same.

"are those men who came down from the airship really Tuaparang soldiers? They seem to have strange powers unlike normal Psyenergy... Just like you two [Blados and Chalis]."
     ...
"May we now consider Dark Psyenergy an open secret?"

An easy explanation is that Dark Adepts have chosen not to use or practice their Dark Psyenergy.

Otherwise, my interpretation is that the Tuaparang are remnants of the secret Umbra Clan which were also called Dark Adepts. But the Tuaparang today do not use Dark psyenergy, and don't seem to know that it even exists.  Blados and Chalis are part of another group that's also descendant of the Umbra Clan, which does use dark psy energy, and which has its own goals.

In the games, "Umbra" and "Luna" have most often only been referenced in the context of being balanced with sol, and here too we can assume that the Umbra Clan are forces of balance.  We know that the Umbra Clan has an imperial "High Emperor" who wants the Appolo Lens activated, but for what purpose we do not know.  However, I have this to speculate:  In Luna Tower, when you gain the ability to summon Eclipse, it says "My name is Eclipse.  When the world is at it's darkest, I shall appear."  I would assume that the Umbra Clan may have a similar motto, and exist to save the world. This fits the game's tagline "it is always darkest before the dawn."  I'd bet anything that they've considered naming GS4: Golden Sun: The New Age, to parallel the previous pair of games.

The word "Dark" doesn't seem to be used with the same connotations, and Blados and Chalis's actions and goals seem to be precisely to increase darkness. Blados and Chalis want to use the Apollo Lens against either Tuaparang itself or the area surrounding the Sol Sanctum, which seems to be against what neither Alex nor the High Emperor seem to want.  It may be incidental, but they do point out after the Volecheck fight, that as a creature of darkness, Volecheck cannot survive outside the Eclipse (they turned him into a creature of darkness to prolong his usefulness to them).

So we know that the philosophy that Umbra/Luna represents is separate and distinct from Dark Psyenergy, which is unlike normal psyenergy.  And throughout Dark Dawn we observe how even minor expressions of dark energy seem to be taken negatively (for example when it radiated out from the base of Luna Tower during the Grave Eclipse), whereas minor expressions of light energy seem to be taken positively.  Furthermore, summons like Eclipse are based on "normal" psyenergy (2 mercury and 3 jupiter), not "strange" dark psyenergy.  So "Luna" and "Dark" energy are not the same thing.

Because of how powerful, informed, and secretive the Tuaparang are, I assume they've been around for a while, and would factor into a prequel.  Therefore I think we should spend some effort to understand them.   The Japanese name apparently means something related to Shangri-La, but the closest I could come to figuring out the english name was to follow it to Tuath, which just means people, but similar terms show up in Tuatha_De_Danann, and Tuatha_Deohn (or just Tuatha) in Kingdoms of Amalur, and apparently Folklore on PS3 and in Hellboy 2. (some guy on a forum said it).  I don't think the English and Japanese meanings are incompatible or contradictory.

And I wonder how it may compare to Anemos.  I just watched a bit more of Luna Tower and the Grave Eclipse, and confirmed the following: Before activation, the moon -- which is possibly Anemos -- came directly in front of sol, and THEN Luna Tower activated.  It seems either that Anemos was used to remotely gather and then transmit energy to Luna Tower, or there was a related switch on Anemos that was triggered by energy from sol.  It seems like a suitable location for the Tuaparang to at least visit semi-regularly, especially if they're already well equipped with modern umbral gear, as seen in the youtube video linked above.

And this also raises a theory about the werewolves.  Some jupiter adepts have mental psyenergy which can trigger without their explicit will, as shown between Sveta and Volechek, before Volechek enters the opera to fight the dark creatures.  The werewolf phenomenon may be caused by a mental connection to the jupiter adepts on Anemos, who may or may not have been evolved towards beastfolk by exposure to sol.

I'm not sure, but it does seem neat that Garoh and Anemos would foreshadow the moon's ability to project energy down back to Weyard.

Either way, it seems a prequel would have to consider Anemos and Tuaparang, even if not the other ancients introduced in Dark Dawn.

Allright.
In our story umbra adept appears as only play-by character After conversation at Lemuria.
What are classes of dark adept and what kind of psyenergy.
We will make discusions about those things later.

There's  no such thing as an umbra-adept, but there are dark adepts.
The classes and powers related to dark psyenergy will depend on the overall story.

Therefore we cannot discuss much unless you have an outline for the entire story.  Including spoilers, and including the end.

I think it's a reference to the Umbra Clan, which the Dark Adepts were a part of.  Ever since DD came out, there's been three names for it - Umbra Adept, Dark Adept, and Luna Adept.  There is no consensus in the fandom as to what to call them - just know they all refer to the same thing.

The only one of those phrases that's appeared in a game is Dark Adept, and why make up new terms if old ones exist?

Reference to Umbra Adepts and Luna Adepts are likely to cause confusion, and I advise against it.

This is something I whole heartedly agree with you on.  But the fandom isn't exactly one to listen - everyone has their own way of saying it.

Salanewt: Oh my. To be honest though, I'd be more likely to give Briggs stuff from later regions; him being a pirate from another continent and all.
JamietheFlameUser: How not to design boss fights: give human-type bosses stats and equipment on par for what the Editor says their level is and what equipment is available where they're from. You get stuff like an actually scaled to level 21 Briggs with a Great Sword, Silver Plate, Silver Helm, Vambrace, and Leather Boots. God, that was BS.

Saturos: Wow first part of exam is ower (in english) tomorow speaking part.
JamietheFlameUser: Eh, I didn't know the exact chance of Curse screwing you over. Still, that 6% chance to fail to act at all could screw you over when it matters most. The obvious solution, of course, is to stick that armour on a character who doesn't do anything but spam attack moves anyway.
leaf: ...assuming I'm remembering the chance of curse taking effect correctly as 25%
Today at 07:09:50
leaf: in fact, you get two turns the majority of the time (~56%), and only completely fail to act ~6%, the remainder of the time getting one action
Today at 07:07:49
leaf: I like that stealth armor buff. it wouldn't make sense to do that with the clerics ring available, but if you remove that, it's actually an interesting item. On average, you get ~1.5 turns per round. it's potentially very strong, but carries risks
Today at 07:04:59
leaf: lol
JamietheFlameUser: Reading the Venus Psynergy topic and 'lol'ing at Role's reaction to a very simple spell idea I'd had (and still think is awesome), where rock explodes out of the ground from a single point in a focused, cone-shaped burst. Role read me the riot act about not combining elements again. lol.
JamietheFlameUser: Well, one thing I came up with that was actually potentially cool is a modification to the Stealth Armour. I gave it +1 turns, under the assumption that the Cleric's Ring would be removed. You might get 2 actions that round, or 1 action, or maybe no actions at all! RNG at its finest.
Knight of Purgatory: Nice orange text kain. Maybe it should be a shiny gold
Today at 06:03:40
leaf: I concur. There isn't much I'd consider worth salvaging from dc in terms of work done, but reading the old threads can be quite amusing
Today at 06:01:48
JamietheFlameUser: LOL I'm looking at the DCrisis Items/Equipment section. Role and I were both so immature about it (me especially) that it's hilarious in hindsight.
Knight of Purgatory: Then i think i'll take the entire shop, item and equipment section
Yesterday at 23:25:55
Teawater: @Kain: That's certainly nice to know. :)  Poetry time, I go.  Eventually, things will be in automation. As long as there's no procrastination. In the future, say hello to Mr. Name Charger. Don't worry, it's not a Danger. There'll also be Mr. Clan Swapper.  It might make people hyper..... (Or does the best refer to something else? Like the badge shop?)
